How many does EBR have? 100? I tell you what, when St. George happens in 3-5 years, they'll take over as #1 because they'll have 4-5 schools tops -- to start anyway. They'll get a huge boatload of Parkview parents and they'll attract a lot more. Zachary is still relatively young. 7 schools is still very few. All I am saying is the obvious and that is public schools that move away from urbanized districts thrive. Look at Texas and all of the ISD's they have. Socioeconomics drive stuff.

While I do say that the reason Zachary is #1 is because they are a small district comparatively speaking, I still give credit to Drake. He is a positive man and one who has vision. I definitely think he will be a huge loss for them.

Correct.
It was approx. 35% black in '00/'01. It's higher now and closer to 50/50.

Are you comparing apples to apples? Top end there is no comparison obviously. But its not like you can grab acreage in the middle of town for $50k an acre.

Absolutely agree. In fact I believe its the biggest thing in determining school performance because it has influence on so many aspects of a kids life.

I do defend it when I see/hear information I believe to be incorrect.
I graduated from Zachary in '01. We were a good set of neighborhood schools (still in EBRPSS). '01 Zachary schools don't hold a candle to what it is now.
As to the OP, I am a firm believer that the best school in metro BR is probably Catholic High. I think public school wise you have Zachary/Central on a level playing field and then there are the next tier of ASC/LIV schools. Magnet schools in EBRPSS have their appeal obviously but are usually in neighborhoods that you don't want your kid in.

It depends on where you'll be commuting to, what kind of neighborhood you are looking for, your price range, and whether or not you like meth.
