Give me SE Asia anyday ..... at least in the cities. Full stalls, bum guns and usually music playing (especially in a hotel or mall).
Now, if you get pretty far out of the cities, I have seen and never used the squatters. But western style is certianly the norm now.

With the only caveat that in office buildings it doesn't seem like they pump in very much AC.
They made other cultural changes like implementing summertime CoolBiz dresscodes in many businesses and reducing AC in hotels and office towers to compensate for using less electricity than they used to. (They still almost never wear shorts once they hit junior high though, other than for sports.)

Toilets tend to be smaller in some European countries and lower to the ground
