PSA for Flood - Regarding Insurance Claims

when you re-enter your property, have a camera with you. take pictures of EVERYTHING before you start turning over piles. Go room by room, drawer by drawer taking pictures of the contents.
If you have any time now, start making a list on excel from memory and classify information by room and type.
ex:
Bedroom 1
Furniture
1
2
3
Clothing
1
2
3
electronics, etc.
You will need to go back and update this list over and over as you think of new items. use your pictures to help justify the items.
Make sure you check the valuation on your flood policy. if it is replacement cost, you can start doing some online shopping for prices now. The faster you get a true and complete list that the adjuster agrees with, the faster you will get paid... period.
If you have comprehensive coverage on your auto policy call them as soon as you can to start the claim. Check your policy to see what the rental reimbursement will be per day and for what period of time. This can be an important item to jump on early, as thousands of people will be needing vehicles. if the policy will only pay $30 per day, you will not get more if the only vehicles are $70 per day.
Hopefully others can add on to this list and help everyone out. im sure i will think of more later as well.
stay safe and i wish everyone the best.
