Man, that just sucks….i don’t know if the injury is worse or the ruined trip.

Just keep the guard on the grinder. I was using a flapper wheel on a harbor freight grinder with a on/off switch and not a paddle. Went to turn it off and the back of the paddle wheel shredded the end of my thumb.
