I don’t know about exploring, maybe just passing through until they couldn’t go any further because of the Gulf of Mexico.

Back in 1991, on a trip to hike in Pisgah NF, we stopped in Greenville, SC to pick up lunch.
The town was having a Cajun Days celebration. Would have stopped but we were rushing to get to the trailhead.

I spent enough time in western Carolina to know that Appalachians are a lot like Cajuns. Know how to live off the land, booze, and make music.
I felt right at home up there. Thinking about retiring "up yonder".

I could spend all my days in the blue ridge mountains area. Heaven in mid October.
