How can you not make your own resume?

One page per every 10 years of experience per a Google executive.

The actual format is straightforward enough

Name and contact information
Work experience
Education
Activities / Extracurriculars

There are many formats and it takes hours to get the wording right. I update my resume every six months or so. Always takes a few hours for even subtle updates.

It's not about grammar and structure. Its about how to best capture 10 years of experience in a few pages.

Where did I say anything about grammar?

If you can't figure out how to list your work experience in resume' form, maybe you shouldn't be working.

He charges around $799 per resume. However it could easily be worth it in the long run.

Based on the response he most readily responded to, OP is not American Born and/or a native English Speaker. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Having gotten that out of the way.

Many, many, MANY folks in the IT field who are foreign born and educated overseas take jobs in the IT field here in America. They need help with everything from job searches to resume construction to interviewing skills. When English is a Second Language, this can present massive problems.

It takes a lot of initiative to even get this far and a good bit of audacity as well.

Now having said that, there are some guys who will bogue up a resume in a heartbeat. It's gotten so bad that some "freshers," or folks who are "fresh out of computer school," in places like Eurasia and the Subcontinent of India will actually hire more experienced folks to have Skype or Videoconference interviews in order to obtain employment.

IT folks here stateside are routinely surprised when a different person entirely shows up for the first day.

Freshers hire those types often.

OP, good luck!

Apparently, most of the posters in this thread have not had to deal with the Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) used in Big Pharma.

example: horizontal line on resume may equal resume rejection.

Horizontal line? Is this because of how the program reads the line?

I found a lady who does resumes on eBay for $30. She redid my resume and cover letter from the ground up and did a damn good job with it. She only took 3 days to do it.

lines = misread.
.pdf = misread
tables =misread
work experience never professional experience
employer, title, dates. always in that order

There are long, long lists of items that can result in immediate rejection of a resume before it ever reaches a person.

You can probably get it done for free by calling the career services center at your university. Both of mine provide this service free to alumni.
