Rogan interview w/ Michael Osterholm

Go listen to that. All data suggests this WILL get worse.

The "hysteria" by local Karen types is overblown for sure, but only in the aspect that what they are doing (hoarding hand sanitizer will do nothing.

The lack of swift action by the government and diminishing the importance of this virus is the problem.

Is it near it’s peak? No, but I think we have a pretty good handle on the severity. I think we end up with around 5-10K deaths when it’s all said and done.

I’m with you. I hate sounding callous, but in a nation of 320 million, that ain’t shite.

Very likely...but my point is all the people talking about how unimportant this whole thing is because of "100 deaths" are frickin retarded. It's going to kill a lot more. We will have to wait and see what that means.

where did I say or imply that anyone did? I asked that specific poster.
You asked if he thinks it’s near it’s peak. That implies he or anyone for that matter may actually think it is. You’re allowing for that possibility. Unless you meant the question rhetorically?

If You survive and i die you’ll get my 4500 and vice versa. You don’t stand a chance.

You’re a weak man

As the other poster mentioned, not to sound callous, but 5-10K deaths is still statistically insignificant in a population of 330 million people.

How many people will die in Italy this year from flu?
Again, for the dullards who keep saying this, the mortality rate is at least 3x that of the flu.

If 100 people get the flu and one dies; if 100 people get COVID-19 then 3+ will die. The panic is about limiting the exponential growth of the infected because, again, once infected the mortality rates is much higher with no vaccine.

I don't think he's wrong that they are creating a histeria, but I also think he's an addiction medicine specialist and not a large scale disease type doctor.

No. No it doesnt. It implies that I dont know everyone in the free world thoughts on the peak of the corona virus.

You should quit posting and just go to Italy. I hear they have lots of extra ventilators so if you run into trouble, you'll be fine.

I would agree. And it's also killing mostly old people with health issues.

But that doesnt really have anything to do with my original comment.

We don’t know what the mortality rate is. We have guesses, but they are just that.

You left out the age groups that are more susceptible.

If you're going to cite statistics at least be accurate before calling people dullards.

The mortality rate of SARS was somewhere around 10%, it was just as contagious as COVID19, and it killed less than 1,000.

Mortality rates of one virus to the next are incredibly difficult to compare in the real world.

This was your original comment:

quote:

People saying we have 100 dead are fricking retarded. The virus just got to the states and is spreading very rapidly. The virus has barely had time to take its course with people in the US.

Which is silly in a number of ways. 1. You’re complaining about people using the current death tolls as if those people are suggesting that the current numbers will represent the final numbers. 2. You suggest that the virus just got to the US, which very likely isn’t true as you later admitted.
