You probably need that handy little handle on the front of your saddle if you think it’s only an endurance test for the horse

There was a Great American Horse race where riders had to cross the US. Top horses and riders from across the country and around the world entered the race to win the prize money. About $25k I think. One older guy here in the US thought the race would be too tough for a horse so he entered it on a Mule. Everyone mocked him and made fun of him. He won the race.

wasnt that long ago either; 1976.

Well since I grew up riding with an English saddle I'm going to say no.

The mules I messed with were out of Belgians, so the disposition was great. Beautiful color, but did not like tall grass tickling their bellies. And, they did not like getting dirty. Odd behavior but I was never felt I had to be overly careful.
