It's also an opportunity to help your community or causes you're passionate about. I would become a full-time philanthropists. I see people talk about starting a business if they won and I scratch my head as to why. Invest it properly and do something to give back IMO.

You can start a business and still give to charity. Personally I would probably be bored without something to work towards. Starting a business would be more for accomplishing something for myself rather than another source of income.

I would like to stay busy too which is why I said I would become a full-time philanthropist. That can keep you very busy. Look at Bill Gates for example.

Yeah, it would be one thing if my wealth came from, and was tied to, a business but I can't really see going through that pain in the arse if 500 million was just dropped into my lap.

Now, angel investing? Sure.

You could live off the interest alone.

If you invested the entire amount of the post taxed lump sum payout into stocks that generate a 3% return from dividends you would make roughly 1.3 million a month in interest. That would be taxed at the 20% capital gains rate for qualified dividends so you would have about 1.1 million a month in cash to burn without ever touching the principal.

In all reality, after setting my immediate family up..I'd travel and give to those truly deserving.

I'd want to build homes for people, just try to help the best I could. I'd want to be anyomous with it too, and then open up a small bbq venture.

Man... over $1M per month... I'm going to have to find a better investment strategy, not sure that's going to cut it.

I would buy my own bottling company and create a drink that people can enjoy that isn't soda.

I have no idea what I'd do with this kind of money. It's crazy to me how some of you already know. That's dreaming big. I'd be content with getting 5 white balls correct.

I would go and work at the hardware store I worked at in college like 2 or 3 days a week just because I always loved working at that place.
