It doesn't matter to anybody and it ended up OK for him because he has now officially cashed his ticket but as a strict theoretical exercise, I really don't see how anybody can defend this from either an "Is this smart?" or an "Is this lawyer an idiot?" perspective.

Yeah this whole thread is retarded. I don't see any problem with what these guys did, they got out in front of the media and took control of the situation. Look what is happening in CA and FL, media are stalking people's workplaces and homes trying to find the alleged winners. The TN couple have given the media their 15 minutes and now they can go back to their normal lives.
