I have read some of the older post regarding this program but I was wondering if anyone on here is in the process of completing it, or has completed it recently. I've been working as an estimator/assistant PM for a sub doing commercial/heavy civil work for about a year and a half now and I'm scheduled to start the post-bac program at the end of august and finish in mid march. My original degree is in management, however I wanted to work construction so I beat the bushes until landing my current job.
Any recommendations on how to further my career and get on with a big time GC or industrial contractor either as an estimator or assistant PM? I know experience is king and I'll keep plugging away with what I'm doing, but I'm wondering if there's a better path regarding my experience. Thanks

Great program, friends I know who did it speak very highly of it. It's designed for people who had their undergrad degree in something random but now find themselves running a construction operation.

I'm about to finish it. Have my last test this week.
It is a good program. Since you have been working in the industry it should be fairly easy, its really not that hard.
It is time consuming, lots of reading. I have pretty much dedicated my Saturday to this program for the past 8 months. You can certainly finish it during the week if you want, but my 2 year old wouldn't really allow it.
If you are working for a sub, you should know a few GCs. Talk with them, I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I work for a sub right now, dont really o ow what I'm going to do in a week.

Well we are looking for estimators/PAs/PMs
Commercial work in BR is about to ramp up.
But, experience is required. Either commercial field or office.

My question is should I be applying to GC's now or keep gaining the experience as an estimator/apm with a sub, go through the post-bac program and then start sending out my resume with a little less than two years experience in this role. Ultimately I'd like to end up raising my family in a place like Birmingham, etc. but when that time comes I want to have as rock solid of an educational/field/office background as possible.

You do both. The program is designed to be flexible so you can complete it while you work.
