can you be a plant operator with a finance degree?

There are finance jobs in a plant also.

I'm sure you just need another degree to hang on your wall and then you will make it. No need to prove how valuable you are if you can just point to some framed paper on the wall.

This reeks of insecurity. I tell you I'm not qualified for the plant and you accuse me rattling diplomas. Get a grip.

No, it's just part of a monthly inspection that's been happening for years, yet the operators act as if they've never had the encounter before in their lives

Assuming you come on the same day of the week they MAY get to see you 10 times a year.

If you bounce around they may see you less than 3 times a year.

Even better, you could be one of 30 permits issued that day. For dozens of inspections that go on.

Or you may be the third inspector that day on that pump that continues to fail.

It was a response to a comment that said a degree could help you walk in to the plant. I'm saying that's not true. That you had to be qualified. But thanks. Try again.

Or you may be the guy that just enjoys being a dick just because he can.

In that case you are really wrong.

My former boss has a MBA and JD. Both paid for by the company.

I've seen new hires with ZERO experience only holding a bachelor's. I've also seen just a HS diploma.

The best part about being hired by a diverse group is that usually a diverse group is hired.

If you want to walk in with just your education I can promise you will get a solid look.

Or we could both be applying extreme stereotypes as if they were across the board facts.

My entire family has worked in the plants. In the 90s, my uncle threatened to blow up the plant. He went nuts. They eventually let him back out there.

Good old days before 9/11

Don't have to worry about the ones that threaten it. Just the ones that know how and are quiet.

Take the generic text Exxon offers. Get a job with an NDE company while waiting
