Causing death is the extreme end result of pits being an inherently bad breed.

A bit of a leap.

There are also some huge assumptions about genetics being made here by too many people for them all to have practical training in the matter.

pit owners simply will not admit the dog has a mind of its own. actually all dogs do. and pits, DO KILL, and when they do they always say its the owner, not the dog. so i gave an example that i know to be a fact that police buy top notch dogs, spend top money training, and the dogs STILL bite the wrong damn people. I'm not saying pits should be eradicated, or police dogs. I'm saying its ignorance to only blame the owner.

PERIOD

It probably hasn't. This thread turned into a debate about pitbulls rather than the actual tragedy.

Mastiffs, Rottweilers, Dobermans, and German Shepherds all have jaw pressures equal to or higher (in some cases, significantly higher) than a Pit Bull. I think the Pit may be 5th in that ranking actually.

...and the combined death total of all of those breeds combined isnt even close to the pitbull death total alone. Thank you for proving everyone's point.

Actually, I think that is a broad generalization.

Dogs should be isolated from situations in which harm, liability, aggravation, etc. can be caused for themselves or others. The higher the cost or risk, the more care that needs to be taken.

One way to do that is to get rid of the dogs. Another is to get rid of the humans. Another is to colonize a canine planet.

There are also reasonable solutions that do not require extreme positions, grandstanding, etc. They require thought and patience, as well.

My man, say someone uses Gun "A" and kills 239 people a year. Then someone else uses Gun "B" and kills 250 a year, that doesn't make Gun "B" the most dangerous gun.

Why should body count be relevant? Did you even read my post? The strength of a dog, much like the strength of a gun, should not be ignored when arguing how dangerous a breed of dog is. If I shoot you in the stomach with a pellet gun, you may have a minor injury. If I shoot you in the stomach with a shotgun, you'd be dead.

Body count should only be 1 factor in arguing what is more dangerous. Tigers haven't killed many humans, but of course they are more dangerous than pits.

No breed of dog is worth a child's life or the horrendous grief for a parent. I wouldn't shed a tear if all pits were destroyed. No matter what is said pits do the most damage. Period. The numbers don't lie. They make up 6% of the dog population and make up for almost 80% of attacks. They need to go.

What kind of parent allows their child to be inside an apartment with that killing machine? Even for a pit bull that thing is obviously made for killing.

Our mastiff doesn't have enough energy to bite, much less kill.
