Ryan Street poster from Amazon. My mom used to work at the Charleston until she got pregnant with me.

Before there was karaoke, there was “Sing Along With Mitch (Miller)”.

At least L. Welk was done live. MM had everything lip-synched. The vocals sounded like they'd been recorded in a cavernous train station. The whole thing gave off a creepy vibe, like it was a flashback in a horror movie.

I remember seeing it as a kid and thought it was pretty strange as well. Something about the way he moved his hands across his midsection like he was scratching for fleas.

My mom was super old school, so biscuits at our house meant homemade cat-head biscuits. This meant the only time I encountered canned biscuits was when I’d spend the night with my cousin. His mom would make these “flaky” canned biscuits. As a kid, I loved ‘em, especially the ones called Butter-me-nots.
If I remember right, momma said canned biscuits caused cancer. She said the same thing about a number of common things like microwaves, canned vegetables, most frozen foods, Pam, artificial sweeteners, and many others I’m not thinking of right now.
