I bet they didn't speak ebonics. Probably enunciated properly as well.

where was the BR shakey's?

and where was the BR pasquale's?

there is at least one surviving pasquale's in this region, in greenville MS. I hope someday I can visit and pay proper homage.

Shakey’s was on Airline, south of Goodwood.

Pasquale’s was on LSU campus by the old Louie’s Cafe.

Parker Colosseum at LSU was named after one of the participants.

“In 1891, Parker participated in the mob that lynched eleven Italian immigrants in New Orleans, avenging the murder of Police Chief David C. Hennessy. He refused to apologize for his role because he believed the mass lynching was justified.”

when did they close? I don't remember an LSU Pasquale's at all.

I believe Pasquale's was still around (near Gov't?) by the time I got to BR (c. 1980) but for some reason I never went there. Shakey's probably closed before then.

If you would rather this image remain a surrealistic mystery, don't read any further. But if you're one of those overliteral types who demands everything have a neat and tidy explanation, read on.

March 15, 1955: A NY Times article reporting a protest of service cuts on trains running between Weehawken, N.J., and Albany carried this photo of someone’s nightmare, and adopted a lighthearted tone: “These little piggies went to Weehawken,” the caption read; “A hog can ride the West Shore — why can’t you?” the passengers chanted.

Pasquale's was on the corner of Florida Blvd. at Nassau Dr., close to Little John. A vietnamese place now. The building was a chinese place in the mid to late 80's so I guess Pasquale's closed in early 80's. Don't remember one at LSU.

Shakey's closed 1981/2 or so.
