As I Lay Dying or The Alchemist? Is Faulkner any good? This would be my first by him.

Faulkner is a brilliant author but it's pretty miserable to read imo.

Faulkner is great and definitely a writer to delve into at some point but can be very tedious.
I'd recommend The Alchemist. It is a really good book and is an easy, quick read.

AILD is one of his easier books, and I found it hilarious. Absalom, Absalom! is my favorite book of all time, though quite a different tone.

I listened to the Alchemist's audiobook on a trip to New Mexico earlier this year.

I enjoyed it. It had a fun story and is a big life lesson book IMO. If you want a pick me up of any kind I would especially recommend it.

Have not read As I lay Dying.
