Has anyone been to see this? Is it worth going to see? It's Wednesday at 6:30, thanks.

Probably not. Bunch of aging liberal yuppies/geriatrics led by the lisping fatass New Orleans media figure Errol Laborde and his smarmy saccharine wife Peggy Scott Laborde, maker of all those New Orleans nostalgic public-TV documentaries. They ride a packed streetcar in costume. Big wup. They dredged up a defunct early Carnival club's name and latched onto it for an attempt at authenticity. Even worse, they have leeched off a real-deal Carnival club, New Orleans' oldest continuous marching club the Jefferson City Buzzards, in a desperate grab for authenticity. Probably harmless but nothing to go out of your way to see.

Sounds like they hit a nerve with you. Did you not make it past first tryout?

Nice.

In full disclosure, I have marched numerous times with the Jefferson City Buzzards, though not in recent years, and I have never understood the Buzzards' reasons for associating with this club. The Buzzards are a bunch of mainly blue-collar guys and serious drinkers who love to kiss women on the route; the PPP seem like a bunch of tsk-tsk tightasses with a superiority complex. I'll leave it at that.

I'm not passing on that opportunity.
