And the same could be said about Castile. Maybe he was nervous as well. It's up to the officer of the law to defuse the situation. He had the draw on the driver and any well trained gun owner in that position will get off the first shot in that scenario.

Phlando Castille litterally said "I HAVE TO PULL IT OUT"

It's a shame, but I cannot balme the cop after seeing that video.

You can't defuse...if the subject doesn't follow orders.

And a well trained gun owner knows that as soon as the other person starts to draw...its anybodies game. And getting the first shot off doesn't mean anything.

S.C. Trooper Mark Coates shot his killer 6 times in the chest with a .357 magnum and when he turned to seek cover the guy killed him with a .22 derringer.

Agree seeing that I feel like it was legally justified, but very very unfortunate. If I remember correctly, he was intoxicated right? Maybe this blurred his judgement and he was getting the gun out to give to the cop u took the traffic stop was over. Maybe he wasn't reaching for it at all and the cop misread it. Either way, this was no murder. Cop was calm early on and didn't seem jumpy ay all. Afterward he is clearly distraught.

Hell, you should be scared to leave the house if that's the bar we're gonna use to exonerate shooters

did they not give this cop a psychological test before hiring him? Cop does not have the mental make-up to be in law enforcement. Especially one who carries a firearm. That's obvious from his actions once he was told there was a gun in the vehicle to firing six shots into the car and how he acted afterward. I bet the cop is scared of his own shadow. He should've been serving lunch at the police academy if he wanted to be in law enforcement

He was driving (from the driver's seat)

I now know the video was flipped to make it appear as if he was in the passenger seat.

I assumed, seeing a man, woman, and child in a car. I should have played the percentages and known that if he was the child's father he would have been miles away from it's life.

OK, so the cop doesn't shoot and Philando draws his weapon and shoots the cop at point blank range. Then what?

Speculation. How many cop shooters tell a cop They have a weapon and CWP then try to shoot the cop 2 seconds later?

This is a happy story if they are not pulled over for a fricking brake light being burnt out. If he was that concerned he could have used his PA system and said "Fix your brake light."

He was fishing.

Ever come across a thread you have a deep down feeling you can't or should not get involved in?

This is one of those for me. It's a good one. Don't have the fight in me today, though. Glad others do, however.

Irrelevant. Doesn't fit the narrative.

If you jump ahead in the video, you can hear someone asking the cop questions about what happened and the cop clearly says "I don't know where the gun was. He didn't fricking tell me where the gun was".

If you listen to that clip, it makes it sound like the cop really didn't know what the driver was reaching for. He said the "the grip looked wider than a wallet", making it sound like he never saw the gun, but assumed the driver was reaching for the gun. Maybe it was a wallet.

This is the queued up clip.

But the thing is that none of those details are terrible important. What I find interesting was the fact that you were in such a hurry to tell someone they were wrong that you didn't bother to see if they were. Congrats buddy, you're the a-hole who always wants to be heard and never listen.

This one is kind of iffy. They stop the car, they ask for license and insurance which she provided them. The guy says "officer I got to tell you I have a firearm..." and this is when I question things.

It seems like he was thinking he was doing the right thing by telling the cops he had an illegal firearm on him, but was the guy trying to get something in the glove compartment? The girl handed him just his license and the guy was getting insurance card?
