Perspective on crime and general absurdity in areas outside Louisiana

As a generalization, there has been a great deal of complaining lately about crime and general outlook in Louisiana, rightfully so.
A few weeks ago I "liked" on facebook the Colorado Springs newspaper as a relative was featured in a series. Anyway, Colorado Springs is a pretty decent place, publications often put it as a top 5 place to live in the nation. Conversely, Baton Rouge ranks low on many quality of life lists. The cities have roughly the same population as Baton Rouge and an hour away from state's larger and better known city, it lacks a loop and the interstate goes through the middle of town, etc. There are similarities in that sense.
Now I'm not saying Louisiana/Baton Rouge is "better" than Colorado/Colorado Springs or even picking on either place--not getting into all that. My only point is to show how no place is perfect as I've been a little shocked at the sick shite that goes on there. Here are headlines from the last two days:
Now, does a place with all this happening within 36 hours sound very appealing? Absolutely not. But there's of course more to the story.
TLDR: We're all doomed. Get drunk, high, laid and seize the day.

Baton Rouge is a terrible city, just accept it. It doesn't have to define you.

Yeah, that's the best one and prompted me to look at the page and all the headlines at one time.

Both shitty places to live, but CS has something to see when you look out the window.

I don't think shitty. No place is perfect, that's all
