My mother never flew on a plane, and over the course of her life only went to LA, MS, AL, AR, and FL. I have a brother that didn't fly until he was maybe 40, he had the same phobia as our mother, but got over it.

Worked for a company years ago that did a lot of survey work. Party Chief hired a 19 yr old for an "out of town" crew. The first time the kid had left the county and traveled the Interstate was to sign his employment paperwork. They took him to the Atlantic coast of Florida for two weeks (from Mississippi). After two weeks out they went back home. Never heard from the kid again (guess he had seen the world).

I have a guy that works for me fly for the first time last week. He is 32. He went to Denver for training. I helped him book his flight and walked him through everything. He called me the day before he left to do online check in.

It was kind of cool to see how excited he was about flying.
