That was a Peter Jennings deal he came up with during Clarence Thomas' which hunt. Just like he used to say, "shed-juul" for schedule. Grade-A a-hole.

That was the preferred pronunciation until American news media changed the emphasis in the early 70s. Still an acceptable pronunciation
