I was in a grocery store one morning in line in the express lane behind an old Jewish man who owned a local jewelry store. He was fishing in his pockets for change to pay for a pint of milk and a couple of donuts. He was short and asked me if I could help out with the difference. I didn’t have small change but we began swapping dollar bills, nickels and dimes to square him up.
After the smoke cleared I think I had more invested in his milk and donuts than he did.
