I haven't read all this but the part I am most annoyed by is that the people feel that putting this little kids business on youtube is the right move.
Maybe in 12 years this kid wont want this information available when you google his name.

I had a dress that I liked to wear up until about age 5, my parents didn't refer to me a transgendered. They referred to em as a kid, because kids do things like that.
And that's fine. I never said anywhere that someone should call their kid transgendered. I actually didn't comment on the parents in the video at all. Other than saying I didn't mind the video.

That's not really the same as telling your child they are transgendered at a ridiculously early age.
I will say I see now more where you are coming from, and understand your point better.
Well, it's a good thing you see that since nowhere did I say I would do that and you argued with my very clear post that said I wouldn't cross-dress my kid.. just be pretty normal/neutral.

These parents are attention whores at best. This poor kid will be fricked psychologically.
The worst is all these morons on facebook supporting these retards. "Oh you're so brave... blah blah blah." Idiots.

The video was interesting to watch and I liked it, but I agree..
Kid might grow out of it. Might not. Kinda shitty to put that online.

The idea of not buying a girl dolls or pink clothes because you do not want to pressure her into identifying herself as a girl just seems so incredibly silly to me
Some people complicate this stuff entirely too much

Is that what was gathered? I said both types of toys.

Surely you can understand the confusion when your first post said "I thought the video was good" and that you would "raise your child gender neutral."

I mean...sure
but it is pretty ingrained within our culture what girls "like" and what boys "like", and sooner or later she is going to learn what she is supposed to like
but more power to you if you have ever change your mind and have a kid

I wouldn't be hiding it from the kid
I meant I wouldn't be berating my kid for liking whatever they like regardless of where it falls on the gender spectrum. If little dude wants a Barbie, fine by me. If he prefers trucks and mud, that's fine too.
Problem I find with the couple in the video is that they should just let the kid live and deal with labels later. She wants to dress like a dude? Fine. Let her. Don't comment much on it. If she changes eventually, great. If not, great too.

quote:They're in their mid-twenties, but I also attended a guest lecture at UA given by a former Harvard professor and LGBT activist named Robyn Ochs( her Wiki page). It was really informative. She spent about an hour discussing sexuality, gender, and liberty. She's in either her late fifty's or early sixty's, and she is married to a woman but self-identifies as bisexual.
How old are they? I've met 60 year old gay guys and lesbians never a Bi. Especially a bi dude.
I just don't see how you're denying that a sexual preference exists based on, not even anecdotal evidence, but hearsay. If you say something doesn't exist, all it takes is finding one of that something to prove you wrong. I'm saying that I'm friends with two, and you're implying they don't know what they are. Before you try to shoot down Mrs. Och's ability to understand what she's attracted to, I'll present you with a study out of UCLA which analyzed multiple surveys administered by multiple universities and organizations that estimate that between 0.7% and 3.1% of the U.S. population is bisexual. That is, the survey with the lowest estimate said 0.7% and the survey with the highest number said 3.1%.

If you're going to say the UCLA study as wrong too, at least take the time to read it and provide a reason.
