Paging Napoleon - gas oven assistance needed

My gas oven and broiler won't light properly. I have a whirlpool gw397lxus06. The igniter element on both the oven and broiler will glow but there appears to be no gas flow going to either one.
The weird thing is both the oven and broiler will light when they are turned on but only when I turn one of the stove top burners on momentarily. The oven/broiler igniter then stays on - not sure if it's supposed to or not.
Anyway something is very defective and google isn't helping in this instance. Any ideas?
