When you say ketogenic, do you mean just very low carb
Low carb/high fat
Yeah, the ketogenic diet is really counter-intuitive, but for some reason when you increase your fat intake and basically eat nothing but protein and fat, your body adapts and releases different hormones to process the fat like carbs or something. It's weird.

I've heard people define ketogenic differently that's why I ask.
And if the fats you're consuming are by in large non-saturated or medium chain fatty acids I could see how that would work. But being ketogenic for too long can have some serious consequences.
I try to keep my macros at 50/30/20 (protein/fat/carbs) unless I'm happy with my body fat (which is rarely), then I go 40/20/40.
If I were to be training for something like a marathon or something that required a large amount of endurance, I would go 30/20/50.

That seems like too little carbs to me, but I'm not ripped like you, so what do I know.

I'm eating a lot more carbs because I'm so damn hungry all the time.

The main benefit I found with a ketogenic diet is it was much more feeling than a diet with carbs.

What kind of fats are we talking?
Posted on 8/21/14 at 2:56 pm to SabiDojo
I tried to get mine from healthy sources like coconut milk, avocado, almonds etc. I did have a lot of days where I would eat Mcdoubles without the bun though.

Pretty much any of them listed in the X3 nutrtion guide.
My new favorite is coconut oil. I use it to cook whole wheat pancakes on weekends.

I need to get more into this. I've been winging it lately, tbh.

Legs and Back is LEGIT.
I wouldn't mind going through P90X again. It may be long, but it sure is a pump.

Incinerator today
BTW....47 years old....presently finishing week 7 of my second round of X3......first workout regiment i've ever done since high school....it's awesome.
looking for something different after this round of X3 though. The 30 minutes a day is what makes it doable for me. Whatever is next will have to have limited cardio (i can't stand cardio)......

I really enjoy it. I'm doing the Mass Schedule now and Incinerator is in Block 1.
Total Synergistics, Agility X, X3 Yoga, The Challenge, Pilates X, Incinerator.
Now THAT'S what I call a great week.

I don't LIKE cardio, but I love what it has done for me. The only thing I don't like about X3 is Agility X. It does nothing for me. The problem is I don't really have a lot of room to go nuts.
Do Body Beast, breh.

This
Does body beast increase mass? i'm about 6 foot and weigh around 185-190 (i don't weigh myself...ever (except for doctor visits). Don't really need or want mass, but started this regiment for toning an older, once athletic body. It worked.
I check in on this thread regularly, to keep up with everyone's progress. It was motivation during the early stages of my X3, now i just check in to see if there's anything new.

That's the claim. I believe it. I can't wait to try it.
