If you want to slim down the easiest way is to gradually cut your calories.

Hugh jackmens wolverine workout is on there.

Probably take care of what you're looking for.

I highly recommend a celeb or premade plan. If you're new to lifting, it will be difficult to make one from scratch and keep up with when and what you're supposed to be doing

I'm still weak on squat/dl tho due to my height (I'm 6-2). and I had a disc issue a few years back

January of this year my pb was like 235. I started Arnold in April. And restarted in July. That's how quick I jumped up on that plan.

It's brutal and awesome

If you want to pack on muscle you need to space lifting and cardio by at least 12 hours. After you lift you need to refuel. This program helped me put on 40 lbs of muscle in two years while I was at LSU. LINK

Like Mouton said, if you want definition, your diet has to be in check. It's not only about eating "healthy" and eating chicken and brown rice. I eat fried chicken once a wk and bacon every single day. I drink beer 2 days a wk (at least a 6 pack), yet Im still pretty lean for my height/weight. It's more about macros and total caloric intake than it is about eating a strict diet. Now, you cant just eat breakfast cereal and powdered donuts whenever you want and expect to keep muscle mass and be totally lean, but your diet can be alot more flexible than you think if you know what youre doing.

Or just not do cardio at all.

bodybuilding.com

bodyspace app

You can create a workout from scratch or use a pre-made one, or a celebrity one. All can be published to a calender. Each day you open app and hit today track work out, and a list of lifts comes up with sets/reps and space to enter weights. As you progress it tracks weights, maxouts etc. and times your rest periods.

It is awesome.

bodybuilding.com is one of the most underrated websites/customer service companies out there.

I had no idea about the bodyspace app, I'm downloading it now.

Agree with bodybuilding.com They have a great forum, educational articles, insane store with really good pricing, and by far the best customer service in the business.

Krista

Ignore that it's written by a woman; much if not all of what's there is applicable to men, and it's a great no-bullshite site.

Yup but alot of people dont have hours and hours of time on their hands to train like that. His diet was the key to how he got that big and lean at the same time, and a big part of it was training fasted.

I love it.

Best neat little feature. It totals the amount of weight you lift in a workout. And keeps a running total of all workouts.

My leg day saturday, I lifted 63,000 lbs. My total is at 4,000,000 lbs. I know...awesome.

My goal for June was to do 1M lbs in a month. Missed it by 1 workout

When I first broke 1M I was like. Holy shite that's incredible. I know over years its happened over and over, but it's way cool to see it tracked in a time period like that.

The wolverine workouts were all under 1 hr for me.

Once I got on Arnold though...... lucky if I get done in 1.5hrs 6 days a week

ETA: and yes DIET is everything. You can't pack on muscle and get cut without eating right. But if you do, you will pack on absolutely nothing but muscle.

That app sounds cool, but also seems like a good way to over train by constantly trying to one-up your totals.

You got to stay smart still. I constantly check my previous workout weights. And hover around them. I don't jump weight a lot. If you have a good plan uploaded it will give you effort % based on your 1 rep max for each lift

10-4

Wasnt singling you out, just stating in general. New guys (myself included when I started) get too obsessed with lifting more than the guy on side of them. I know once I became less weight focused and more form focused I got way better workouts.

Get your caloric intake right where you need/want it for your goal, start doing more olympic lifts, and possibly look into intermittent fasting. Im not sure how the rest of the board feels about it, but Ive been doing it for about one month and I love it. Ive had very noticeable bodyfat % drops and Ive gained weight doing it.

I use it to keep consistent. 40 to 50 thousand a day is what I average lifting according to the app. I lift 5 days a week.
