As others have said, you can pull restaurant meals through the app for a lot of major chains. Try to look for the ones with the little blue check next to it showing it's verified, those are generally the most accurate. If it's something local that isn't listed, I usually just try to pull a "homemade" recipe or Google and guesstimate.
The app is really simple to use and as others have said after awhile all of your regular foods are right there. I've used it for awhile on and off and it's been great for tracking calories. It also helps me keep my sugar intake in check (I like the notes that will pop up when you add a food if you're getting close to the daily recommended intake).

Yep, and it is shocking how many calories you eat daily even when you think you are eating "healthy."

What about the "extra" calories it allows like after a good workout?
Do you eat that amount also on top of the daily goal?
I usually don't.
I've been using the app for 50 days straight

No I do not enter any exercise into the app.

I love it. Have to guess on some stuff but it gives you a good idea

Right, and always over estimate than underestimate when you don't have the nutritional information available.
That huge slab of lasagne from the local italian restaurant has a lot more than 500 calories, despite what MFP says.

If you're just your average joe who is working out to lose weight, no. Because the goal is to burn more calories than you take in. Eating those calories on the regular is just simply letting you break even.

Break it down by what you eat. Chicken on salad? Search in the app for chicken, change the amount you ate and then add it. Then search for lettuce (or romaine or spinach), adjust the amount and add it. Same for dressing.
It's not rocket surgery.

This. Plus people tend to eat back the calories they burned during exercise rather than stopping when they reach their daily caloric allotment.
