Same here. The story has been forming for a while now... I have gotten a lot of the basics worked out, but am still working on the direction, etc.

there is only one direction in a post apolcalyptic story...forward. Unless of course you utilize flashbacks.

Based on what was observed following the Joplin tornado the people in this area will help each other survive more than they will loot or kill each other. Based on what I've seen on the news, most urban areas will loot and kill each other until they have used up all the resources and then they will die off while waiting for someone to come provide for them. That contrast would make for an interesting read. Reminds me of a Hank Jr. song.

I think its pickup only, or you can order off their online shop and have it shipped (more expensive I think).

The Joplin community showcased to the world a perfect example of Missouri and midwestern values, while certain areas of St. Louis have showcased to the world the worst aspects of human nature.

A writer could use Joplin and Ferguson Missouri as inspiration for a post-apocalyptic story which also happens to be metaphor detailing the stark cultural and political differences that exist in a 2014 United States.

Excellent point.

Y'all see the movie Goodbye World? Decent enough but funny because the main couple are crazy preppers, all kinds of stuff, EXCEPT they're liberals who think guns are icky. shite hits the fan and despite all their prepping they get owned by some rogue cops and others (with guns) who take their shite.

There's much more to the movie than that but that was my main take away from it.

How the frick can you be a prepper and not have some use of firearms or other weapons?

Honestly, one of the most valuable items to store is duct tape. Supply gold.
