What is your pace like? I used to run 50+ miles / week and I was not very fast.
I've since gotten a smarter training program. I run about 4 times/week. Intervals, hill work, long run, recovery run. I do strength on days that I don't run.
Right now I'm running sub-20 5Ks, I just ran the CCC10K @ 40:49 and my last half in November was 1:35. I'm a much better runner running 25 - 35 / week than when I was doing 50+
As for the week of, I'd take AT LEAST a day off before the race, I usually will take 2 days off before a race. Fresh legs makes a huge difference. Rest is as important as working out.

running my first one next weekend. I know its not a full and kind of a wuss race but im still a little nervous
I run 40-50 miles a week but my questions are
what did the week of the race look like for you with your workouts and diet?
im just scared to scale back because I don't want to gain weight this week.
TIA
Guarentee more harm will come out of over-analyzing and being a pussy than magic tips. You probably aren't anywhere close to elite such that you need to start fine tuning little things like that. Just don't do anything stupid like a time trial the day before and you'll be fine.

5'11" 208 - 34 waist in jeans. I consider myself healthy. Sub 23 minute 5k and do interval training. Nowhere near "fat".

Most people at that height and weight could lose a few pounds unless you carry a lot of muscle.

I have big legs and wide shoulders. I'm not most people. Everyone is not the same build. Is Johnny Manzeil fat? He's my exact height and weight.

Yeah. I was 5'11" 208 and a 37 inch waist. I was fat.
ETA : it's crazy how important your build is
