Louisiana case law or jurisprudence is persuasive, not binding which is pretty much the difference here.

No. You are probably asking a different question, but codified is when the legislature passes a law that reflects what cases have been doing all along even though there was no clear statutory law on the issue.

Anyone ever seen pirates of the Caribbean movie where they pull out the "code". That is codified law.

Who then write the laws down... in a code!

So yes, our codified law is why we're all fricked up. Duh.

Code = more general principles that can be broadly applied to a number of situations

Statute = specifically drafted and applicable in narrower situations
