OT Landscapers: Is it too late to put down a winterizer on the lawn?

Is it too late to put down a winterizer on the lawn since we've had several frosts...or does that even matter?
I have a cool weather grass that benefits most from a winterizer versus a spring/summer fertilizer.
I appreciate your suggestions.

I don't hate you killz. I'm the only one here that appreciates your dark twisted soul.
You can put out now, it's just fertilizer. but you can get more bang for your buck putting out a cheap fertilizer high in N over a marketed "winterizer". However, if your grass is already going dormant. What's the point and wait till spring.

depends really on what is going on with your grass...if it is still green and actively growing, then sure, it will get some benefit.
however, if your grass is dormant or going dormant shortly, you risk the fertilizer washing away in the winter rains and/or feeding the early spring weeds that pop out long before the grass becomes active again...

Would it be okay to put down in the Spring if my grass is a cool weather grass (a fine grass)?
