OT Golfers & Tennis players

i'm going golfing this weekend for the first time ever and i'd like some advice from golfers who have experience in tennis.
i grew up playing tennis and i'm right handed with a two handed backhand, meaning i swing a baseball bat and a golf club the way left handed person would.
if i'm getting into the sport for fun, do i need to make the effort to switch or just stay with my strength and play as any left handed person would.
also, any advice for some clubs under $500 bucks would be great.

Left hand on the top, either overlap your right pinkie or interlock it with left pointer

I don't know much about tennis, but if you're right handed shouldn't you swing a bat and a golf club like a right-hander?
I briefly played tennis and was mostly taught to hit all my backhands with 2 hands.

good question. after 25+ years with a 2 handed backhand, my body seems to only be able to swing with strength in that direction and form.
i've tried swinging as a right handed person would and i'm just awful.

Stay left handed. If you are deciding to commit some time to golf and attempting to play the game well you need to be able to duplicate the same swing over and over and over. If you are better at replicating a swing left handed then I would suggest you stick to that.

I think you are relating golf to tennis a little too much. I would swing the way a right-handed person does, and since it sounds like you don't have too much experience you'll prob have a hard time either way. But hey if it fails and you're clearly much better swinging left handed go for it. Prob should make that decision before you buy clubs though.

I got a set of left handed clubs that I picked up from some dumbass who left his garage open.
They are sitting in my garage next mudminnow' s beer taps that I got from mud gate.
The clubs might be a little long. Chicken is pretty tall.

If you enjoy the game and continue, get a series of lessons and practice more than Yiu play.

99% of right handed tennis players hit a two handed backhand. Don't you hit a right handed forehand stroke? That most likely makes you right handed for golf as well. Have you played baseball or softball? If you are a right handed batter, then golf right handed and vice versa.
Demo some different clubs, then buy a 1-2 year old set on eBay. Callaways and Pings are known as easy to hit clubs for beginners. Look for oversized irons. Adams makes a nice beginner set for decent money if you want to buy new clubs. Get hybrid clubs to replace your 3-6 irons. They are much easier to hit.

Neither translate to golf. It's an entirely different swing. You will try and power your shots at first. Keep your lead foot planted and learn to generate power with your hips and shoulders.
