Callaway Steelhead X-14

I started with and ran this basic rig for a while. The photograph shows the irons a little out of order. The Approach wedge(51 degree loft I think)should follow the Pitching wedge instead of shown after the Sand wedge (55 degree). The club in the foreground I guess is either the 3I or the Lob wedge (60 degree).

I ditched the 3I a few years back but continue to use the 4I. I replaced the Sand wedge and Lob wedge/ 55 degree/60 degree with a 57 degree Sandy Andy and added a 53 degree Sandy Andy like wedge. Net gain of one club which let me add a 17 degree hybrid to replace my 3 wood.

Anyway, I found the clubs very forgiving yet capable of pretty good accuracy. You can't really do the kind of shot shaping which blades offer, but, with practice and some creativity, you can make the ball go where you want it to, except when it doesn't want to or the Golf Fates have other plans .

I am suggesting them to you because they are, I believe, very good clubs with a good track record, are a good set for a beginner and can be found inexpensively online through Ebay.

Oleman has those in the Pro Series if the shafts aren't rusted out yet

Got mine regular flex graphite which probably need reshafting.

Get something easy to hit and forgiving, Hogan blades for example.

I always wanted some Lynx Black Cat when I was a teenager because that's what Freddie Couples played with and he was/is my favorite.
