OT detectives: I got a really weird package in the mail

3 of them to be exact. They are small bubble wrap envelopes about 4x6 inches in size.
All three had nothing in them...
Anyone want to try and track down the address?

Did you buy any digital currency? Something on a game? Something from China?
I had bought a game account where they had made it decent for you and you just enjoy playing on it, like Warcraft or something. They will ship you a package though to show an item was sent to you in case you try to get your money back on a credit card reversal

Yep.
Either that or they chose a random address in the same ZIP code as the real buyer. That way the tracking shows it was delivered at a certain time and date to the correct ZIP.
There are a LOT of scammers selling on Amazon from China, and Amazon hasn't been very good about cracking down on them. Part of it is that it's a game of Whack A Mole and new ones keep popping up to take advantage of the long transit times. But they also want to build market share and being less aggressive with enforcement helps.

Interesting...because the name was not mine, and the address was a bit off as well.

I assume you've already googled the sender?

It's from wish.com.
We get a lot of them at work from people ordering shite off that damn website.

Definitely benefits the scammer. The person who bought the item expects it to take a long time, so they aren't worried yet, especially with daily life as a distraction. Eventually they'll wonder and track the package and see it was "delivered" today. Then they'll ask the seller who will give a canned response to check with the post office and their neighbors, ask if there are other residents or houseguests, etc.
Eventually Amazon hears enough complaints about the seller and shuts them down, but they already made off with a good chunk of money. When you buy on Amazon, they hold the purchase price on your credit card. When the seller confirms shipment, the money is dropped to the seller's balance. Every two weeks, the balance is wired to the seller. They can take money back later if there's a complaint or chargeback, but these crooks are long gone by then and left an empty bank account.
