Best insurance fraud case I ever hear about was a guy that burned his house down using a turtle. He put a candle on the turtles back and put it in the middle of a room then left so he would have an alibi. By the time the turtle moved around and caught curtains and shite on fire he had his alibi and the fire had multiple starting points. The turtle also mostly disintegrated in the fire as did the candle so no source of the fire could be determined.
They knew he had set it but just couldn't prove it so they had to pay him and they also paid him extra and gave him immunity to explain how he did it so they would know what to look for next time.
This story came from a friend of mine that's an agent so it could be urban legend but if true that guy was a genius.
