Organic dairy pasteurizes at a higher temperature than regular dairy because there are fewer organic dairies and they usually have to transport the product further. The different pasteurization method extends shelf life and alters the flavor.

As a former QA Chemist at a dairy, this is correct

But many (like my wife) like the taste. And the DHA that is added.

We just bought 1.5 gallons from sams for 11.48

Not terrible.

Lasts longer too

It only lasts longer because they pasteurize the shite out of it which destroys all vitamins naturally present in milk.

SIAP, but organic milk tastes better and lasts longer because it is ultra pasteurized. It is raised to a higher temp than normal during pasteurization, but for a shorter amount of time (280° F for 2 seconds). This breaks some of the lactose down into sugar, giving it a sweeter taste than regular pasteurized milk.

All milk is organic

So wrong. So much wrong in this thread.

Organic milk does taste better Here's the reason. You see, the government allows a significant percentage of powdered milk to be rehydrated and included in bottles/cartons of "fresh" fluid milk. These mixtures are sold at the grocer without any labeling requirement to inform the consumer. It doesn't seem fair but it has been that way for a long time, and percentages of reconstituted powdered milk allowed was once tightly controlled. Sadly, that is no longer the case. More and more of it is yucky tasting powdered milk mixed with a bit of fresh milk.

For anyone who has ever had to drink canned or powdered milk, you know it tastes cooked, and gummy; nothing like fresh fluid milk. The difference in taste can be compared to drinking instant coffee versus an expertly brewed cup of goumet coffee. It's little wonder that children these days gag in protest when a mother tries to make them drink their milk.

Organic milk has none of this reclaimed powder milk in water added back to it. Which is why it tastes richer and creamier.

The taste difference is EXTREMELY apparent. Although it has nothing to do with being hormone free but all due to fresh fluid milk.

holy shite, you believe this crap?

it's literally the opposite of the truth. organic milk tastes different because it is cooked and is not "fresh" milk

We do organic whole milk non homogenized and low heat pasteurized from a farm just up the road. The placebo effect would be not tasting the difference.
