Had one.
Never liked it.
Sold it.

The guy I sold it to is exactly what you described.

It can do a lot of things well but losing fingers or a hand shouldn’t be one of them. Of all the tools sold in that department, it was the one I tried to avoid.

My junior high in (RI, VA?) made us all learn to cut push sticks (and use them) before we did anything else. Could something that simple be the solution for you?

Jimbo, did you cut your fingers off or leave the table saw running overnight?

Once my grandfather cut off 2.5 fingers.

True story. Brought them to the doc too late. Couldn’t reattach. Good times.

Also, don’t use a saw drunk.

Almost!

At almost 88 Jimbo it’s probably best just to be cutting farts at the table rather than trying to get your wood working.

I'm not old yet, and don't use a big permanent table saw but when I bust out the portable one to rip a few boards I always have a pregame speech with myself.

It's not that I don't like using it, I know myself and get in a hurry sometimes so I always stop, slow down, remind myself of where hands can go, run through the cut in my head.

This is a good game plan and something I try to do also.
