I came upon this scene last Friday. The wreck had just occurred. I came over a little ridge traveling east on I10 about a mile west of the NASA exit in Hancock Co.
People numbering between 10 and 15 were running down off the intestate down to the tree line where the bus had come to rest parallel to the road. I could see it had not rolled over. The folks were prying open the windows to get to the people. I had stopped to see what I could do, but there were so many people helping it was not feasible for more folks to get involved until the EMS, cops, etc arrived.
I was impressed by the sheer numbers of people stopping to help. The Southern culture is still cool.

The driver of the bus realized he was in Mississippi and he made the logical choice of trying to kill himself.

That's ridiculous, not too much longer and he'd be in Alabama, and then pretty quickly into Florida.
Actually, you're right.
