If there's something to this, then it's brilliant. Prove the defenses first and then adjust accordingly.
Far from brilliant in my eyes. The worst thing Russia could do is give Ukrainian military/citizens a glimpse of hope. Every hour that goes by and every Russian asset that falls emboldens the citizens, gives them time to arm and stage, and brings more and more support from outside Ukraine.
The psychology of shock and awe is what produces complicity quickly.
Roll columns of 500 T90s in from every cardinal direction and fire a 125 mic mic HE-FRAG round into every house or bush that fires even a 9mm round at them and Ukraine would be reporting to the Kremlin by supper time.

Russia is POOR. Their lifestyle doesn't even approach that of lower middle class Americans.

I've been saying that from the jump. Putin had one chance. Regardless of the tactical picture, the geopolitical reality dictated that he accomplish the mission fast. I would love to see the Russian operational plan. What they did was too subtle to be brutal and too brutal to be subtle.
I expected something like: False flag, agent provocateurs, manufactured civil unrest, Coup by "patriotic" Ukrainians who request Russian peacekeepers. Done and done and there's not much the outside world could or would have done about it. They did something similar in Kazakhstan just a few weeks ago and it worked.
Maybe they got spooked by our publicly letting them know that we were inside their decision loop. Maybe it forced them to kick off before they had completed the prep work to shape the battle space.

Russian Air Force is very strong but I make them look weak.
