One funny 'where were you' moment for us was NYE 1999. We're 13 yrs apart.
I was 24 living in Dallas after college. Came down and got hammered drunk in Jackson Square for midnight.
She was 11 in 7th grade at Sacred Heart. They were in a backyard at a friend's sleepover doing sparklers.

Maturity is the key. I dated a girl 20 years younger. smashtown was legit but in the end, lack of maturity was evident and we parted ways.
