All I know is Im seeing a lot of Us service companies up there investing in the offshore wind farms work

You know why? Government subsidies.

Warren Buffett on wind energy:
quote:

DESPITE BEING FAMOUS for touting the idea that the rich don’t pay their fair share of taxes, investor Warren Buffet seems to be perfectly fine with receiving tax breaks for making investments in Big Wind. "I will do anything that is basically covered by the law to reduce Berkshire's tax rate," Buffet told an audience in Omaha, Nebraska recently. "For example, on wind energy, we get a tax credit if we build a lot of wind farms. That's the only reason to build them. They don't make sense without the tax credit."

Just about everyone of the wind companies are from the Netherlands..they are all overseas companies...and yes you're right..they are receiving ridiculous subsides.

It just doesnt make sense.....the numbers dont add up

It's the service companies that are making bank

Like how Louisiana community colleges offer process technology degrees, New Mexico community colleges offer wind energy degrees.

Apparently there are 4000 unmanned oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico alone. I think the ships will be okay.

Dont know but maybe most of these arent platforms but what are called candlesticks or wellheads. Candlesticks/wellheads are unmanned and are supposed to be unmanned. These wellheads are tied in to pipelines. Im guessing to monitor the flow of oil or gas from offshore pipelines to refineries.

My Danish family is bigly into onshore windmills. One large windmill will generate 2M euros per year. Maintenance per year averages 1.5M euros per year. After all other expenses, the profit margins are pretty thin.

Each new generation is a bit more reliable, but the progress is slow. Until reliability improves, the service companies will continue to make the most money. My family just wants to be in position when maintenance drops to a reasonable level.

they need government subsidies to keep this industry moving. the engineering and tech is extremely expensive but you can argue as the industry begins to evolve some of the costs will start to lower and at some point it will become more financially appealing for private companies to invest more.

Environmentalists:
“We need cleaner energy than oil!”
Wind farms? No it’s a bad view
Nuclear? No it’s dangerous
Hydro? No, dams cause flood damage
Solar? No it’s too expensive

You can’t please these people.

Every time I've passed a wind farm very few if any of them are even active. Was told this was due to not needing them bc the demand for electricity wasn't there, and they only get used during high usage periods.
