JONESBORO, Ark. — An officer who was previously disciplined for losing his temper and physically attacking a suspect has now been fired after another violent outburst.
Officer Joseph Harris was fired on Friday, August 9, by the Jonesboro Police Department, JPD announced in a post on their Facebook page. The department released the video of the incident to their YouTube channel after 4 p.m. on Friday.

The video shows a prisoner, Billy Lee Coram, in a medical gown complaining that he thinks he is going to die after being released by the hospital back into the jail. As the prisoner states that he “doesn’t give a fu*k,” Officer Harris shouts back that he “doesn’t give a fu*k.”
quote:
The man continues to plead that he has fentanyl in his system and no one will listen to him. The prisoner states the officer doesn’t care if he dies. The officer states responds that doesn’t really care. The prisoner calls the officer a “piece of sh*t.”
The suspect is able to wrap the seatbelt around his throat and appears to attempt to strangle himself. This is when the officer loses his cool.
The officer punches him four times and elbows him six times. Then, he slams the door on the prisoner’s head. Another officer asks him if he is okay. Officer Harris returns and takes the end of his baton and shoves it into the suspect’s chest to get him to move. He then, again, slams the door on the subject’s head.
The subject begins screaming that he can’t feel his legs and that his neck is hurt. However, he is dragged out of the back of the patrol car by what appears to be detention officers, who command him to stand up.

punk cop!
but just imagine if that was a black dude getting slammed like that, they’d be burning the cities down.
Cops abuse their power on everyone, sometimes force is needed, but for this one, it was a roof rage by this cop.
it’s a hard job, i wouldn’t have patience for it, and things happen on the fly, but this right here was uncalled for!

That interior camera footage is from 24-hours ago. Someone must have raised hell for this to have been released so quickly.

I hope to never find myself in the back of a police car after ingesting fentynal.

F all that. If you can't do it, then don't judge those thst do. Or maybe be a bit emphatic The abuse against cops is unreal and the expectations are not realistic.
In the 1st video, what should he have done? The guy is trying to kill himself. He has to go hands on. The prisoner is going through a manic phase. He hit him with a string of 2 inch flutter punches and nudged him with his elbow. He has to hit him. Otherwise, what? Wrestle with him?
I've seen the 2nd video before. Those kids had it coming, all of them. They interfered, would not leave, then became verbally abusive. In my world, when you step to someone and challenge them, you have to expect a reaction. Why do people believe that they can curse out, insult and threaten cops?

Not a cop and never in law enforcement. I just follow the law and don't advocate for junkies that shove stuff up their arse.

Cop has an explosive anger problem. Both situations demonstrate a complete loss of rational behavior.

In the real world, when you are put in a position of power, there is an expectation that you hold yourself to a higher standard. Cops can’t act like the feral criminals they’re trying to apprehend. Protect and serve, remember?

These jerkoffs have no right carrying a badge.

The expectations for those that carry a badge and a gun are probably not realistic - they are too low.

Every public employee is supposed to serve. That does not mean they are subject to verbal abuse and threats. There should be an expected level of decorum from every citizen. Police are just people. I do not expect more or less from them than anyone else. The people in these videos are criminals in the process of breaking the law. We can debate procedures or levels of force, but force was necessary.

One of these is not like the others. You CAN insult a cop(call him/her fat, lazy, dumb, pig) you CAN curse at them(flip them off, b*tch,as*hole)…NOT a crime.
Threatening them is different.(I’ll kill you, get you, f*ck you up etc) That’s inciting violence and/or interfering with police work and you CAN be arrested.
The first 2 are toeing the line if you wanna play games with a cop, but not a crime.

Why do you think that this is ok or will not result in some kind of reaction? Would you do this to anyone else and not expect something to happen

Sweet. I'm glad you have the junkies and criminals' backs. It's great we can all just walk up to any public servant, call them a fat piece of shite and they are supposed to just carry on. That isn't at all disturbing the peace or a hate crime. Are cops exempt from those protections as well?

I don’t think it’s OK in any way. All I stated is that it’s not a crime by saying words and calling them names, same as a civilian/non Law enforcement. I would not act in that manner and hope no one I care about would. I repeat, it’s not OK and I don’t agree with that behavior or think it’s cool to act that way.

I dislike criminals and junkies who cause problems. If someone calls me a fat piece of shite and does not threaten me with violence or touch me or try to advance on me then no, I can’t beat the shite out of them without repercussions and neither can you.(Well, you CAN, but may find yourself in trouble
If someone continues, physically advancing and for fear of self defense of my person, my family and yourself included(I have your back BRmark) then by all means you/me are free to doom switch and beat the snot out of them to stop the threat.
