with all the crime, a City within a City with security shopping, coffee shops and Townhomes/Condo/Apartments and green space would EASILY make up this investment

Who would buy townhomes or condos in NO East? If this happened, they would be Section 8 within a year.

Yes, property value and desire to live there will increase because you build a wall. There are already several developments in the East that are gated. What protects you from the trash living inside the gates?

Hell, its gonna take $5M just to clean the site up and get rid of the bums, alligators, snakes and other wild critters.

It's NOLA East. They won't have to migrate far.

I thought I read the lowest bid was the only one that was submitted properly. Sounds like someone fully understands how business works...

The lowest bid if from Tonya Pope of Jazzland developer TPC-NOLA Inc.

It's like they want to buy it back from the City

You know they're going to end up building a prison there, right?

My post above yours applies to this as well.

I also enjoy how the 3 panel board seem to be leaning towards the lowest bid.

As others have mentioned, it was the only properly submitted bid, and I doubt they accept it until they absolutely have to (when the money runs out.) They've been stringing that proposal along for years now, and keep changing the rules every time they get close to a "decision." However, the money to maintain it is running out, so we'll see.

I have spoken with Tonya Pope, and I like her plans for the site. I am not sure how realistic they were with their estimates, but it's not my money.

By the end of the meeting, Frank Scurlock, who wants to build an amusement park and "city within a city" called Transformation Village on the site, said because the board didn't accept his group's $4.55 million cash offer Tuesday, he would withdraw his bid and explore developing an adventure zip line and water park in Jefferson Parish. Later Tuesday, Scurlock said he would submit a new written offer to the board in two weeks.

This guy is a retard.

I love the idea. Whats wrong with people in New Orleans never wanting anything good to happen for the city.

Sigh

Because it's a guy who spent 10 years living in Disney World who is living off his daddy's money who wants to do it. It's completely unrealistic.

The money isn't there. He would need billions in investment.

He basically wants to build a mega Disney world in New Orleans east. It just isn't feasible by any measure. He wants Atlantis style resorts and all kinds of crap that make no sense.

How many times has that area been inundated with hurricane waters over the past 50 years or so? Twice? More?
Not very sound advice to build there.
