I've been to at least 3-4 different gun ranges recently, and I can't remember anyone saying much of anything, nor have I really observed anyone doing anything unusual.
Occasionally I'll get a stall at an indoor range next to someone popping off .30-06 or something, and think "that guy would probably be happier out in the country with that thing."
That's about the worst of it, though. Don't recall ever seeing anyone fatter than maybe 250 lbs at a gun range, either. Certainly never talked politics at one.
Maybe Louisiana is different.
