Observation about Tiger Stadium first aid services

An older gentleman in our section had a medical emergency last night. He was semiconcious and sweat was pouring off him. They brought one of those full size rolling stretchers like an ambulance has, manhandling it up the steep, narrow aisle, and back down. It took about 15 minutes to get up to him, get him situated, and back down. Fortunately one of the EMT's was a big ole boy because it was a hell of a job wrestling with that thing.
In the past, they used those old folding WWII era canvas stretchers, and maybe they should consider going back to them. It would have been a whole lot quicker.

Now that everything has to be PC and open to all candidates that apply for it, a 5' 100lb person wouldn't be able to carry anyone up or down T stadium stairs in a stretcher.

EMT's and Paramedics have to pass a physical test before working for this reason.

I work closely with dozens of paramedics. I would say at least 75% of them would not have the strength or stamina to be able to do this.

The test is lifting a stretcher with a certain amount of weight. I have no idea why the protocol changed. It seems like what you suggested would work best.

I seen it happen at a HS game. EMTS used a fancy folding chair type gurney to bring the gentleman down. They had 4 fellas carry him, one on each corner.

I had to do this in the 80s using the WWII style stretchers. I wish I knew how many people we actually had to go pick up, because it seems like a lot.
