I sort of chuckled. More of a chortle.

dave chapelle had casual sex with an erupting volcano in one of his skits. it appeared consensual, but as you probably know, volcanoes are inanimate objects incapable of speech or free will. at a minimum, do you agree that 1.) there needs to be more awareness about this issue, and 2.) sex with a volcano is probably not possible due to the extreme temperatures of the flowing magma?
The public needs to be made more aware of volcanoes. Perhaps we should mandate a sexual education course.
You could get to home plate with a MUD volcano and be OK.

What's the closest (known) volcano to Louisiana, and is it close enough that we ever really have to worry about it. Hurricanes suck enough to also have volvanoes to deal with.
Also, how much do you love this gif? Even though it's not a volcano, I feel like it's similar:
Cool .gif!
Ok, the nearest volcano to Louisiana is probably in Texas in the panhandle area. But it's long since been dead. There are erosionally-resistant remains of the interior of volcanoes all throughout that region.
Cannot find a picture, but they're there.

If we ran a core sample, could we get some DNA?
Posted on 6/12/14 at 2:20 pm to Pectus
Is a mud volcano really a volcano, or is it only called that because it resembles a volcano? Also, if there were liquid hot magma flowing down the streets of LA and you were there, would you need to follow a basketball to tell which direction was downhill, or would your innate sense of direction and perspective be enough?

When is Yellowstone going to blow? I still haven't built my underground shelter yet. How much time do I have?

No. Every bit of their bodies has been replaced with silica. The ash that encased them and covered them, over time, dissolved and infiltrated every pore then recrystallized to make the inorganic rock we see today.

It just has the same anatomy as a volcano.
Depends on where I was standing and if it was day or night.

a friend of mine asked me to ask you more about these mud volcanoes. about how tall is the one in that pic? do you think my friend would need to get on his knees to penetrate a mud volcano, or would he just have to squat down a little bit? he's about 6'1".

You have time. I'm sure they'd close the park if they didn't feel it was safe.

why is it called a volcano?
have you ever walked in one?
if I touched liquid magma, would my hand simply melt off or would it catch on fire?

Do real life lava monsters live inside volcanoes? And if so, can I kill one with a sword?

If a shield volcano traverses over a caldera due to plate tectonics, what happens?

I had to look that up. It says Vulcan, god of fire.

There's 3 types of volcanoes you can walk in:
active, dormant, and ancient.
I've done the ancient. Hopefully I'll do all three.

See the link in LSUBoo's answer to that.

At zero gravity, would mercury and/or molten lava turn into a liquid?
I understand there is volcanic activity on the dark side of the moon? True? Or is it we just cant see it according to Pink Floyd?

If you think bacteria look like monsters, yes.
A sword is far too large to kill a bacteria. You'd have to make a sword of electrons.
