To add on to that...Oceanic plates are basaltic, which are more dense than continental plates of granite, hence why oceanic plates always submerge under continental plates at subduction zones.

I will look into it later.
All I know is it would cause small scale gravity anomalies. Maybe it's local magnetic changes from the moving of metal ions in iron and manganese rich magmas.
