Why do you have to be a dick? Your post was pretty good until you added your parenthetical commentary. Why were you not surprised? Tell us.
I don’t think he was trying to be a dick. The reality is that by 17, a lot of lousy people have written on that slate to the point that most of those kids aren’t in the “I need to work my way out of poverty” mindset. That writing usually tells them to make fast cash illegally or become dependent on the government, not get a legit job.
So no, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that kids in that environment would have a low turnout for a jobs event. But there are some, which makes this a worthwhile endeavor.

Kudos to you, Ziera. You’ve done more in one job fair than Gravy and the SJWs could ever dream of
Amazing what can happen when things are run by someone who knows how to actually get results instead of hustling donations.

I also saw this when it aired and I was happy to see the young man they interview spoke so well and apparently took this opportunity seriously by the way he dressed and carried himself. I was disappointed with the opportunities that were there for him. If that specific kid was offered something he could advance in I have kniwndoubt he would be a success, but IHOP, come on. Teaching kids from areas like this that they can do better for themselves and there is a lot out there for them if they work hard for it is the only hope for these types,of communities to improve. When kids of this age no longer accept the members of their community sitting around doing nothing but becoming thugs and shame them for it and make it an uncool lifestyle things will change
