"That fricking mayor needs to get off of his arse and do something and quit making his time in office about him."

A little late for that, don't you think? Mitch is 56 y.o. and it's always been about him.

I always tell visitors to watch that 1st block off Canal and detour around it unless walking with a large group.

There is a rough crowd at that block, 24/7.

good to know if i ever go back

i am no expert but i have gone there once when it was sketchy as frick, but i had that "no way they do something on CANAL" arrogance

Local, "Say man! I bet I can tell you where you got your shoes!"

Tourist, "Huh?"

this why i know most people on this board are just plain fairies

attempting to claim Bourbon/Canal is rough 24/7 - holy hell

and the sad thing is, many people buy into the fear mongering

Well not 24/7, but yeah Bourbon and Canal is hood at night. I don't know how you can deny that.

they just put in a new Walgreens and another new clothing shop, right on the block.

plus they are re-doing the entire road, new sidewalks, etc

just because black people are selling shite jewelry and attempting to palm-read your future, doesnt mean the area is 'hood"

my lord

Dude I lived 4 blocks from there. Don't act like you're the Nola expert here. You're trying too hard.

on Bourbon/Canal - no

there are several more sketchy areas in the FQ than that intersection.

just by the sheer volume of people, its almost impossible to consider it "sketchy"

When has sheer volume of people deterred FQ crime? The crime uptick is happening because there are almost no cops patrolling
