But it’s ridiculous to use the Bible as any time of arbitrator in this discussion because the people who wrote it knew nothing of abortion or contraception because it was not invented yet.

The people as a collective. Which is why we should be allowed to discuss our opinions. Which is why we vote on it. Even something as difficult as a topic as abortion. And discussing it shouldn't be considered imposing beliefs on someone.
